The PROGRESSIVE Pilates Academy [PPA] the first of its kind in Ireland was founded and opened in Dublin 1998. The PPA is recognized as being a leader in Mind Body Functional Education with a reputation for excellence both nationally and internationally.

The PPA is a REPs and YMCA accredited training provider.

Our courses both Reformer and Mat are based on the principles of a solid foundation, structure and technique, instilling the knowledge and confidence required to lead a dynamic, fun and stand-out Group X class.



Our educational foundation is firmly based in the Classical Repertoire and strongly supported by evolved Functional Movement Science, by masters such as [but not exclusive to] Robert Schleip, Thomas Myers, Aline Newton, Kelly Starette, Judith Aston, Gary Gray, Gray Cook and Pete Egoscue.

The PPA course structure is based on 80% and 20% lecture attendance to all the practical contact days is essential. Our focus is on the KSA’s required to develop you into the best Pilates Professional you can be, it is essential that you be committed and focused.

The PPA faculty is led by two of the most respected and experienced Master Coach/Trainers in the country

Principle Master Coach & Education Director Joyce Gavin is credited with bringing the Pilates System to Ireland, opening the first every fully equipped Studio and Academy in the 90’s

Joyce is author of the international best seller ‘The Book of Pilates along with 3 other Pilates publications –

Emma McCarthy Master Trainer & Special Populations Program Director – is a Pilates Instructor and Educator for over 10 years. Emma is a full member of the British Association of Rehabilitators & Trainers (BASRaT). Emma co developed and authored the ‘Pink Bow’ Pilates System for Breast Cancer Survivors.

Reformer Level 1 –
The PROGRESSIVE Pilates Academy provides the most comprehensive Pilates Reformer Specialist Course in Ireland to date.
The PROGRESSIVE System is a course based on the traditional / classical Pilates repertoire while incorporating the most up to the minute Applied Functional Movement Science [AFMS] to allow for client ability/capability adaptations.
The Reformer Specialist Course is modular format from Level I to Level III, and can be taken as a One on One course or Group X course

Reformer Level I [NEW COURSE FORMAT]
Is the first module in a three-part series – the course is designed as an intensive immersion into the movement and teaching techniques required for both the classical and contemporary repertoires at beginner to late improver level.
The PROGRESSIVE Pilates Academy is an open education provider and welcomes all students regardless of lineage. As we are an open education provider and our tutors all have multi-disciplinary backgrounds we can offer the most up today information on biomechanics, fascial movement and core activation with information researched from the world of therapy / biomechanics as well as Pilates and Core Conditioning.
While it will be a tough 2 0r 3 days it will also be a fun interactive learning experience.
Over the duration of the course a wide variety of movement alternative with safe and practical adjustments will be explored to allow for client ability and capability.
Pre-requisite’s to attending are a min Level 1 Pilates Mat certification and 100 hours teaching
1 year plus of participating in Pilates Reformer Group X or private sessions
[Anatomy & Physiology at Level 6 must be take separately – this is an insurance requirement]
One on One Course Basis

• Course Fees €1500.00 [includes manual/tutor mentor/assessment]

Small Group X Course
• Tuition in a Group X [max 7]
• Scheduled date – Next course Date is 20th/21st/22nd October 2017
• Course Fees 3 days [non-instructors] €800.00 [includes manual/tutor mentor/assessment]
• Course Fees 2 days [existing instructors] €595  [includes manual/tutor mentor/assessment]
